So apparently three weekends have passed since my last update and in looking back I'm not really sure what there is to say. Days have been filled with swimming and bike riding, work, and odds and ends. Turns out it doesn't sound all that exciting but it's been rather nice. We've made trips to the farmers market, done many walks into town, went to the carnival when it came to town, hit up the playground numerous times...all good stuff. Actually the carnival was memorable, if for nothing else it was very hot out that day. The girls did many rides, and Margot even got in on the action at a little car ride where she sat between her sisters and "drove" one of the three steering wheels. Mark has the picture on his phone and it's precious.
I have also been working on the hand the last few weeks going to physical therapy to get it moving again. It's humbling to look at your hand and not be able to make it move. Gradually the tightness is getting better but the question is how far it will go. The whole thing grosses Mark out but aside from therapy I do plenty of stuff at home to try and make it move and just started not wearing my splint all the time to help with that. Hoping at the next doctor visit it shows the bone totally healed and I can go down to the lowest form of splint which is just around the finger but we'll see.
We also had the 4th of July thrown in there. We stayed in Chicago this year. I worked the whole week and only had off on Friday. Margot had me up early on Friday so most of our meal of ribs, potato salad, and corn on the cob was prepped and ready by very early morning, which worked great as we got some good time in at the pool where the girls again got treated to a bounce house and sno cones. Isla and Margot were both in bed on time with only Sawyer staying up till around 10. Unfortunately there wasn't really anything to see by our house so she went to bed a bit sad with a promise I'd take her to see fireworks next year. The rest of our weekend was similar - pool, walks, bikes.
The kids are all get pretty grown up. Margot looks like a different kid to me and is just so funny. She is very similar to Sawyer but there are definite differences. She's far more friendly than Sawyer ever was, who can get shy around people. She loves to give hugs and seriously gives some great ones. Even Sawyer and Isla will get them, sometimes she'll walk back and forth between the two giving them hugs. She LOVES music and will start dancing anytime she hears it - doesn't matter where she is - pool, store, home. She has gotten her first two bottom teeth but no more, and still is not too keen on talking. Dada is her go to word with mama coming every now and then. Almost everything else is babble but the girl knows what is going on. Ask her to get you something she does, ask her if she wants to eat and she gets so excited, mention the word walk and she bolts for her shoes, and bring a glass of water around her and she starts saying "Wah" and expect to have to share.
Isla is squarely in the middle of some annoying three-year old behavior (think heavy whining), but so damn cute that sometimes it's hard to put the two together. Her hair is getting much longer and the bangs growing out. She is a bike riding fanatic who would probably not need training wheels if she were tall enough to touch the ground on her bike. She rocks the balance bike though. She loves the pool and the sand box, climbing anything, jumping from one piece of furniture to the next, and making "houses" with chairs and furniture. She is big into playing with princess figurines right now and stuffed animals and makes them all talk to each other. She continues to be crazy clumsy - falling off chairs as she sits on them. We seriously don't know how she hurts herself so much but it makes me so nervous. I'm ready to put her in a bubble it happens so often. As for Sawyer, she's the star of the family - just ask her. She is all sorts of ready for kindergarten and likes to make herself do homework for stickers, or tell Isla what pre-k will be like in her old class. She's ridiculously independent - and doesn't really care if you disagree with her opinion because she plans to do what she wants regardless. She did learn to ride her bike, thanks to Mark, and is now fully on two wheels with no help from us and would like to go to the playground by herself as soon as possible. She's also swimming up a storm - freestyle and backstroke - and loves diving underwater to find things or to try and do handstands, which just look like a bunch of flailing feet right now. Sawyer is a Daddy's girl, and has recently gotten into video games with Mark when he got them a Wii. Here she is playing while wearing Mark's hat.
Not a whole lot else going on in our world which I guess makes us pretty lucky. We've got some fun things coming over the next few weeks so more pictures to come I'm sure.
