Happy Halloween

This year's Halloween was fun!  It was freezing, but fun.  After starting the week with a beautiful 75 degree day, the temperature dropped significantly each day and we were in the high 40s come Friday with lots of wind.  The festivities actually started on Thursday with Isla dressing up for her school party.  She chose to dress as Scooby Doo, and we got no pictures.  We think she had fun though she doesn't tell us much about what goes on at school.  I keep asking her if she has friends, or if she talks to anyone, and the only person she will say is her teacher, Mrs Kupar.

Sawyer's school party was Friday and she came home full of stories about the games they played, the snack they had, and the parade.  She also came home impatient to go trick or treating, despite it being about six hours away.  So be it.  Luckily, trick or treating starts pretty early in our hood - we left the house around 4:45 and there were tons of kids already out.  Mark decided to stay home this year and hand out candy while I walked around with the kids.  It was perhaps the cold temps but worked out pretty well.  We did one block up and down, and they loved trick or treating.  Isla and Sawyer were running door to door like they couldn't get the candy fast enough.  Margot was walking/being carried so she wasn't quite in step with them but she made sure she walked up to the houses with her bag, and honestly what person doesn't love a cute 1 year old so people were happy to throw candy in her bag.

It was very clear that Margot was not loving the cold so after one block I ran her home to Mark.  She was more than happy to break into her candy and warm up by the fire her daddy made.  Thankfully Mark got some pictures of our girl before he took the costume off - our little monkey.

Isla stayed outside for just about a minute or two more to say hi to our neighbor Lily, but ultimately decided against going to more houses because she was cold too.  I loved how happy she was trick or treating - she was often ahead of Sawyer running from house to house, yelling for her to "Come on".

This little kitty looked really cute...she did get her birthday present coat from her Grandparents because it was so cold out...and looks so cute in it.  And below...she's checking out the scene on the street before we go out....looking super cat-like.

But the real super star of Halloween was undoubtedly Sawyer.  The girl was digging it, and she stayed out trick or treating for about 90 minutes.  Once Isla and Margot ditched her, she ended up going around with our neighbor, visiting some of Sawyer's school friends' house, and when she finally decided to head home, and we were about three houses away when we ran into her friend Brooke...and so trick or treating continued.  We did another street and a half, and then when Sawyer's bag was full and she started dropping candy she was finally ready to call it a day.  Since my hands were numb I was all about going home, cuddling up by the fire, and ordering a pizza.

We thought we'd be able to get a picture of all three girls, but Margot didn't love hanging in her costume so I literally put her in it and walked out the door.  She was not about posing or me putting her down quite frankly...but these two girls looked great!

As for the rest of the weekend...pretty low key.  We went to a friend's house yesterday and had fun hanging out.  The kids all were great.  While Margot was pretty much attached to Mark or I the whole night, the other two girls played the whole night and kept themselves busy until we left.  The best part was they tired themselves out and the whole daylight savings thing was a non-issue in this house.  Margot and Sawyer slept till 7am, after the time change which is perfect and Isla was clearly exhausted because she didn't wake up till 9:15...that's right, she essentially slept till 10am. AMAZING.
