Vacation 2015 - Outer Banks

And just like that we were in the Outer Banks.  We made it to our house in Duck and met up with Grandma and Grandpa Harris, and waited for Ann, Ted, Charlie and Ben to arrive just a few short hours later.  I don't think we could have asked for better weather - sunny, 80s and 90s, and very little rain.  What rain we did get mostly came at night and was a welcome reprieve from some of the humidity.

Most of our time was spent in the pool.  It seemed the best remedy for the heat and the kids loved it. Some days they were in there for hours, though it varied - Sawyer was the one in our family who would go inside most often to watch a movie or do crafts with Grandma.  Isla was our little fish who spent much of her time out there with me.  She improved her swimming so much in one week I'm still amazed.  She really took off swimming without her vest on and can go across the pool on her own.

We also made it down to the beach a couple of times.  The kids, and the adults, seemed to love jumping in the waves.  Luckily we had no shark sightings or scares and were able to get out and jump some of the big Atlantic waves.  Charlie and Sawyer especially were out there, and because of their size were getting worked by some of those waves, but both of them kept going back for more.  We even went back at night and they all chased after the ghost crabs that come out at night and scurry along the beach.  They caught several in their buckets and loved running around.

So I didn't have my camera out much at all - didn't carry it into town when we walked around and left it in the bedroom while we spent time at the pool and beach, but I did break it out about 10 minutes one day and captured some great shots.  

This is a fave of mine as I spent some good time in the hammock myself...the epitomy of relaxation

Another favorite - these floaties were used heavily during vacation.  Was the perfect solution to the heat.
