Funny Things

Sawyer is a very quirky girl, and she does things that continue to make us laugh. I thought I'd write a few down...

• When Sawyer wakes up in the morning, she typically asks for a banana ("nana") within about 2 minutes of being awake.  Often it's while she's getting her diaper changed, she'll say nana over and over and point to her mouth and say "eat".  Now I don't know if she just wakes up starving every morning, but seriously she is not hurting in the food department.  How can you argue with a banana though?  We don't...
• Sawyer uses a binky and a little blanket when she takes a nap and goes to bed.  However, she realized a while ago that she can get both out of her crib because her arm fits in through the slots, and if she can't reach them, they're typically laying on a blanket so she can pull that, and get her binky within reach.  I'm starting to worry she's too attached because every now and then she'll run back there mid day and grab them.  On top of that, we keep 2 pacifiers in her crib so she has better luck at finding one if she wakes up in middle of night.  As such, she now requires one in her mouth, and one in her hand when she goes to bed, and will often switch them back and forth. 
• Sawyer typically always has a sippy cup of water around her.  Every now and then she decides that her dog is extremely thirsty.  Not Porter the stuffed dog, but a small plastic walking toy that she has.  She feeds him similar to her dolls, and holds her sippy cup to his mouth while saying "yum yum yum yum" over and over.  On occasion she will also feed mark and i this way.  We have no idea what made her think the dog was thirsty but she gets such a kick out of giving him the sippy cup.
• Sawyer learned a new animal this week - panda.  We had Kung Fu Panda, the movie, on one night and Sawyer took an interest.  We told her that she was watching a panda, which she now refers to as a "Pint-A"...think short "i" sounds, not like the word pint.  If we say panda, she now looks at the TV to see if he's there.  I just like hearing her say the word.
• Wheel of Fortune is on at 6:30 here in Chicago.  We typically have the TV on around then, and will let it play in the background.  Sawyer has picked up that they clap when someone spins the wheel or solves a puzzle, and so every now and then while we're playing, she'll stop, stand up, and start clapping, while cheering "Yay" for the people on the tv.  So smart...
