A Happy Easter from the Harris family. We had a very nice day, made even better by the fact that we had my cousin Caroline here celebrating with us. We started off with some girls waking up and at first not realizing that the Easter bunny came. The baskets weren't out in view so they went about their day normal, that is until Sawyer spotted Margot's basket under the TV and realized that there were treats to be had. She quickly found Isla's under the table next to the couch and spent a good amount of time trying to find hers, ultimately needing to be coached to look in the cabinet in our family room.
Both were very happy with their haul, which included a big bunny, a carrot shaped Reese's pieces, some glow in the dark bracelets, a few other loose candies, and swim goggles. Nothing too crazy but did the job.
Both are very excited to use their goggles come summer at the pool. Sawyer became quite the fish in Florida and I suspect will be a swimming machine by summer's end, and well, Isla just wants to do what Sawyer does.
Margot slept in, and wasn't into her basket at all to her sisters' dismay. However, she did finally get into the M&M's, primarily because they made a cool sound if you shook them. We kept her candy intake to about 5 mini M&M's, and instead let her play with her new matchbox cars, which were a big hit.
We all had a great breakfast -the kids had two. They started with egg shaped doughnuts, and then an hour later had pancakes and sausage. The adults had eggs benedict, a labor of love that took all three adults to cook. I was on hollandaise and canadian bacon, Mark took the english muffins and sausage, and Caroline was poaching eggs. It turned out great, and was the perfect breakfast before Caroline and I walked down the street to church. It was a beautiful 70 degree and sunny day and lots of people were out walking to church and just being happy. Was a nice start to the day. When we got home Mark was taking out the cushions for the patio...which is where I spent a good part of the rest of the day. Reading...relaxing..hanging.

Both girls were eventually sent upstairs to rest, because the bunny drops off eggs in the afternoon. Good thing too because some of the chocolate started to melt just from being outside about 10-15 minutes. Mark eventually told them there were eggs outside and they came running.
Sawyer spotted the first eggs and was off and running...
They would run from one side of the yard to the other, chasing after whatever they spotted.
But it was Isla who was the real surprise. She was a great egg hunter, much to the chagrin of her sister. Both decided to put on dresses for the day, which made for some good pictures for us.

No pictures of Margot - she was actually napping. We didn't think she'd know what was going on and decided this would be easiest for us. We put some eggs inside for her but she wasn't into it, so turned out it was a good decision.
The eggs were dug into right away to get some M&Ms and Mark got some great shots (I think) of the girls. Sometimes it amazes me how angelic they can look in pictures, when in reality they can turn into bears in about 2.2 seconds.
Not long after these pictures were taken we headed off on bikes to the park. It was time to waste some energy and quite frankly it was too nice out to stay inside. So off we went for some play time before coming back to begin cooking Easter dinner.

Margot loved the park. We dressed her in a nice cool outfit and a hat and she still got a little pink from the heat. We're wondering how she's going to like the summer - might be lots of time spent in the pool.
When we got home both girls, though primarily Sawyer, helped with the cooking. Isla isn't as into the cooking as Sawyer is, but thought peeling the eggs sounded fun. They both took the shells off for me to prep for deviled eggs.
But it was Sawyer who helped finish the eggs. She told me this was like a piping bag, which she learned about from watching you tube. I was so impressed she knew the actual name and how to use it. She did a great job filling the eggs up and then sprinkling paprika on them.
We ended up having dinner out on the patio and came in only when Margot spilled a glass of ice water on herself - she loves to drink water, but doesn't always like being unable to hold the glass. I finally gave in...and now you know how it ended.
The girls spent the rest of the night dancing, and occasionally going into their favorite hiding spot...our cupboard.
