A Whole Lot of April/May Showers...

After such an amazing Easter it is crazy how bad the weather became around here.  Feels like all we've had since then is permanent gray skies, rain, and cold/windy weather.  It's amazing what a funk it puts you in. Meant that we spent a lot of time inside the last week, at least until this Saturday when we got our first nice, sunny day again.  So Saturday we got in lots of bike riding, some lawn mowing, a walk into town for lunch and it clearly overwhelmed all of us because everyone in the house slept except for Isla.  Being inside made Mark get creative to keep the girls occupied, and resulted in this:

As for Mark and I though, we've gotten two nights out in the last week.  We celebrated the Horowitz/Thal wedding last weekend and had SO very much fun.  We took a car downtown and had drinks at the hotel before the ceremony and just generally had so much fun hanging out with friends.  Lots of mazels all around. Then this weekend we snuck out after Margot went to bed and hit up some wine and cheese at our favorite grocery store, which it turns out is quite a scene.  All thanks to Caroline who watched the kids for us both times.  Was some much needed time out.

Not sure what else there is going on with us.  Sawyer and Isla go from being best friends to enemies in the span of 2.2 seconds.  Tonight they played go fish and I thought wow, how nice they're playing together.  But the screaming matches typically come just a short time later and man do they know how to go at it.  Isla is getting spunkier and spunkier and is not willing to concede to Sawyer like she used to...which has not gone over well with Sawyer.  It's amazing to look at her face and think that she can turn on her 'mean eyes' but we've seen them more and more lately.

Isla and Margot seem to be best buds these days though, except when Isla tries to keep her away from the play room, stairs, or any toy that she wants.  But generally Isla does a great job playing with Margot and making her laugh.  Sawyer gets her giggling really well too, but I think Margot and Isla just seem to spend more time together.  Now if only they could get Margot to talk more!  She will say mama and dada but it's not an all the time thing.  Between the no talking and the no teeth it should make for an interesting one year check-up at the doctor.  Despite that, the girl is very smart and understands things very well.  She still climbs the stairs but has also gotten better at going back down.  She knows that to get off the couch or chairs you need to go feet first and slide, and she understands many things we say.  If we say dance, she does.  She understands ba-ba, bath, Isla, Sawyer, eat, water, outside...maybe more, who knows.  I just want her to talk back to me!

Anyway, things seem to have settled down in our house.  I should have a quiet week at work and am hoping to get back on the exercise train.  Went off the rails big time and now time to feel like myself again.  Plus, Mark and I recently bought a juicer so hoping he can get me back on track with some concoctions.  So far it's been a great way to get Sawyer to eat spinach, kale, beets, carrots....ourselves too though we've decided to keep the beets in our salad, and not in our drinks.  Of course, Isla will not touch the stuff.  She prefers a diet of mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, fruit snacks and goldfish, and recently pretzel rolls.  It's no wonder she's so tiny - if I don't cook those, she doesn't eat.  I can't remember what I made the other day but she was making herself gag b/c she didn't like the texture of it.  It was almost comical to watch, only I could tell it wasn't voluntary which is crazy for such a little girl.  Thank god Margot will eat ANYTHING we put on her plate.
