We celebrated Sawyer's birthday today...although in truth it feels like we've been celebrating for awhile. Last weekend we went to the jump house for some open jump time and to the arcade for games and pizza, and she's gotten some present deliveries from her grandparents that have reminded her of her birthday. She's been SO excited. Her main request - a Sophia princess party.
We didn't want to do a party with friends yet, especially since she was meeting a whole new set of friends with the start of kindergarten in a new school. But at school today all her friends sang Happy Birthday, gave her a special swirly straw and a little card, and as a result she came home pretty darn happy. She was very antsy this afternoon to open presents, and while she was allowed to open a small one in front of the Kings while we were video calling, girl just wanted the rest of them. We made her wait till after dinner and then it was time. Getting ready...

And while I took the easy way out and ordered a cake, we were quite excited with how it turned out. Add a Sophia tablecloth, some Sophia plates and cups and our girl thought this was the best party ever.
Other than that, a few random pictures to share. Took this one on a morning when Sawyer and Isla were at school, and I was about to head downstairs for work. She can be so happy and goofy when she's on her own.
Margot is also a huge fan of selfies. She can open the camera on the ipad and just clicks over and over so we have a ton of pictures of her staring at the screen. I opened the camera on my phone and it made her so happy. What you can't see all that well in this picture is Margot's teeth! She has three on the bottom that are fully up, and three on the top on their way down. She is also talking up a storm. She basically repeats anything we say and makes all sorts of animal sounds as well. She says Isla's name probably more than anything else, or "Where did it go?" or sometimes just "Go?" raising her hand up in a question. Her favorite animal sounds are dogs, cats, lions, roosters, sheep. I love when she reads the animal sound book and hope to be able to get it on video some time soon.

And it seems that Margot picked up a new skill at the playground today. Mark caught some pics on his phone. Probably better it was him there as I would have been terrified she'd lose her grip and fall. But she didn't and Mark said she loved it...doing it many times.

Isla didn't get a lot of love this post, but she's always by Sawyer's side, and also plays so great with Margot. She drives me crazy sometimes because if we need to reprimand Sawyer she always gets herself involved, starts crying for her sister - she will burst into tears and say we can't punish Sawyer. The other day Sawyer was getting in trouble for being bold and pushing me because I said no to her and Isla starts crying which was super, and when I asked her why she told me it was because Sawyer was her best friend. On a positive note, she's really been enjoying her school and comes home with more and more stuff to show us or tell us. She still has her whiny moments and does this weird tyrannasaurus rex thing where she puts her hand up by her chest and makes it look like she has short arms. Drives Mark and I nuts. But I digress. She is doing so great with her letters, her numbers, drawing and coloring, counting to 25, and likes to sing the days of the week and month songs....though she calls May - Meg so we're still working on that one.
Other than that we're trying to make summer last a little bit longer while the weather is still nice. Think we're even going to try and hit up the apple orchards this weekend so probably more pictures to come.
