Spending Time Outside

Since we've been home we've had a spurt of warm weather, followed by a spurt of colder weather. We've tried to get outside whenever possible for walks around the block, bike riding, or trips to the park leaving everyone with a sense of excitement for summer and a bit of wanting for more warm weather.

Took some pictures last weekend of Isla and Margot while they were out playing.  As you can see, this was one of the colder days (jackets were back).  We got out briefly again today, but were stuck inside much of the weekend due to rain...which made for a stir crazy mom and kids.

The scooter has gotten a lot of use, by both Isla and Margot.  This is a three wheel scooter which makes it easy to balance on, but we were at our friends' house today and Isla was riding a Razor scooter with Ethan and was loving how it went faster and rolled far easier.  I might be convinced by summer's end...
I didn't think this girl would do well on the scooter just yet, but she's quite good on it and think she's hot stuff.
I just love how old our girl looks in these pictures...crooked smile and all.
In other news, the girls and I were home alone this weekend.  Mark headed to Louisville on Friday morning to run his 25th marathon.  Good news is that despite having to run in the rain, he had a good race, finishing in 4:37 minutes and was able to stop and see friends on the way home through Indy. Bad news is he got a flat tire on the way home...and left me home with some moody kids stuck in side because of the rain, with no car to take them anywhere.  We made it through with a pizza party, movies, games, and quite a bit of bickering.  I have to say it made heading out to see friends today mighty nice.

Look at this hair - it'd be great if she let me use a barrette to hold her hair out of her face, but Margot pulls it out within a minute of being in...so we're rocking the floppy hair look for now till we get more growth.
Isla has been a bit of a monkey lately.  If anyone tries to talk while she's speaking she goes crazy yelling.  Even if someone else was talking while she wants to talk she starts yelling that it's her turn to speak.  It's great fun.  She also pretty much contradicts whatever you say.  So if I say the sky is blue, she will insist with every fiber of her being that it's green.  Also, great fun.  I'm hoping it's an age thing?
No pictures of Sawyer in this update - I believe she was inside.  She has a couple of loose teeth which gross me out to no end.  She also has started her softball season.  Right now it's just been a couple of practices but games start in a couple weeks.  Think it will be fun to watch once those start. However, might be interesting as the best player just broke her collar bone after falling off the playground.
Can you believe that this girl is going to be 2 years old in one month?  Nope we can't either!
