Pre-Weekend Fun

We're starting out what looks to be a really fun family weekend a little early.  Yesterday I was a little late in picking up the kids due to some work, and Mark was on a late train, but we came home to a nice little surprise at the door - a big box from Grandma and Grandpa Harris.  It was one of the first nice days we've had so Isla wanted to play outside for a bit, while Sawyer sat salivating in front of the box inside.  I think both girls are going to be spending a lot of time outside as soon as this weather turns a bit!  But I digress, I gathered the girls up and we opened the box up to look at what was inside....lots of Easter treats!

Isla played along with it, but Sawyer was way more into the costumes...
Instead, Isla went straight for the first bit of candy Sawyer pulled out of that box.  She certainly has a sweet tooth.

Sawyer took care of investigating what was in the box.  It was lots of fun digging for presents, but Grandma and Grandpa - did you really have to use all that grass in the box?!!  It was everywhere!
We ended up going to bed a bit late but managed to read our new Easter books, and while Isla slept with her new little bunny I'm pretty sure Sawyer snuck one of her eggs up to bed with her.

As for today, both girls were surprisingly cooperative getting ready (which typically sets the tone for our day).  In part this was because it was beach day at school.  They are trying to kick off registering kids for the summer program and next year.  While we won't be partaking in either Sawyer has been waiting to wear her summer dresses and this was the perfect opportunity - even if we have to wear leggings and long sleeve shirts underneath.  She did pair them with a sun hat and sunglasses as well though, and loved walking into school.
Isla didn't get quite as into it, but wore a dress as well and her sunglasses.  Funny enough, not many parents dressed their kids up (which I understand why) so these girls were a bit of an oddity already at school, but neither one of them would take off their sunglasses once inside so they were true rock stars, as Sawyer was calling them.  Both sat down at their respective tables with their friends to have a breakfast snack with sunglasses firmly in place.
As for me, I'm taking a quick breather from work to put these pics up, and waiting for someone to stop by about reupholstering our rocking chair in the baby's room.  Mark is planning to start painting it this weekend. Pictures will surely come someday, but suffice it to say, I think it may be shocking to some.  We have plenty more planned for the rest of the weekend which will keep us busy....and for sure more pictures will come to show for it on Sunday or Monday.
