Wedding Week

It's been so long since we last wrote, I'm having trouble remembering everything that we've been doing. Our week+ long trip to Buffalo was filled with family get togethers, hanging at the beach, swimming at the pool, playing with cousins, Aunt Alicia's wedding, and lots more. Sawyer accomplished another drive to/from Buffalo, although is a bit leary of the car now I think because she thinks we're strapping her in for a long haul. Car rides are sometimes met with tears now, but we're looking forward to another month or two when Sawyer gets to upgrade to forward facing in the car. At any rate, going to just put some highlights of things I remember from the last two weeks, and post pics:

• We attempted our first Wallace Grandkids photo - got all 6 of the kiddies together. It was overwhelming to say the least and I was sweating by the time we were done. FYI - it is near impossible to get all 6 children to smile, or even just not cry, at once. We have managed one picture that we THINK looks good - crossing fingers for when we pick it up.

• The kiddies were all pretty protective and territorial of their Grandma - if one hopped on her lap, it typically didn't take long for another one to try and get on up there. I caught this in the mall - there's one in the stroller in front of her, and the three oldest made a little chain to walk with her.

• Sawyer hit up the beach for the first time and LOVED it. The first time we went she walked herself right down to the water's edge, and proceeded to walk herself into the waves, and even plopped down on her butt and sat in the surf. Now Lake Erie is cold and a bit rocky on the edge, but she didn't seem to mind. She walked all through that water. The first time I was a little skeptical of what she'd think of sand - especially after seeing Kaitlyn refuse to touch it when she was young - so I left her in her clothes. That outfit was soaked by the time we left. We went back to the beach one night with Julie and the girls, and my dad. That night I again had Sawyer dressed but she wanted in, so we got her down to her diaper and kept dipping her on her stomach. She'd get pretty mad when you pulled her out of the water. Each time I literally hosed her down outside after the beach, but she even loved that. I hope this means i have a little water bug.
• We spent some time in the kiddie pool at Wanakah, and the baby pool at the house. Sawyer again enjoyed the water and sometimes even let us keep a hat on her - she preferred the kid pool where she could walk around and play with toys, but did venture in with mark and i to the big pool with the big kids.

• Sawyer was teething while we were in Buffalo. You may remember that she has two bottom teeth, but we could see atleast two big front teeth were making there way in. They've broken through but are still coming in - however, that's not all. We're getting the three top teeth, and another bottom tooth right now. She's going to look so different when they're in. Along the same lines, Sawyer's hair is starting to come in and she isn't looking so bald. Looks to be light brown with some blond/red tinges in it.
• Sawyer is walking even more than before. She had us walking her all around the lake house, and even learned to do stairs. We live on one floor, so she really found these stairs interesting, and climbed up halfway on her first try. The one problem, she sits back when she's tired, and has yet to realize that there is nothing behind her. Thankfully we caught her each time she did that. Sawyer even showed off her ability to do a few steps on her own. She's up to about 6-7 steps totally on her own, and can sometimes stand without holding on.
• Much of our time was spent just hanging out at the lake house (big thank you to mom and dad for renting it). Had a lot of family dinners, celebrated Kaitlyn's 7th birthday, and watched some sunsets...who would think we're on Lake Erie...also put a picture of the bride and groom to be hanging out.

• 

A quick picture of our future Chicagoan and Mark. Caroline comes to school next week, and we're already getting excited. Sawyer will get to see her, and one of Caroline's friends Kristan, who was kind enough to babysit for us during the wedding. Sawyer and I are planning some future brunches (our favorite meal), and potentially some dining hall dinners with the ladies so i can relive my youth.

As for the wedding - it was so much fun. There was a great dancing crowd, and we spent much of our time out there as well. My feet hurt for three days - those damn shoes! They are so incredibly cute - it sucks that they are Satan's shoes. Anyway - the dresses were so comfy so that worked, the bride looked great, and the flower girl dress is still one of my faves. Luke and Lauren were also incredibly cute as the ring bearer and flower girl.

Think that's a good recap for now...I'm sure I missed a lot, so I'll have to sleep on it. We have a video of Sawyer in the pool to post, but that'll have to wait till tomorrow...
