Weekend Bliss

It's not often when we have nothing planned on a weekend, but this was just our luck this weekend.  Started out perfectly on Friday - Mark hired us our first ever cleaning lady.  We have always felt it was an extravagance but finally bit the bullet and it was AMAZING.  This women scrubbed our house - showers, tub, floors, etc.  Our place was beautiful and she may have convinced us that we could do this on a monthly/every other month basis.  Coupled with the fact I went grocery shopping and did laundry on friday and it meant we had no errands to run the whole weekend - we could really do whatever we wanted. 

So that's what we did - whatever struck our fancy.  Saturday morning we hit up Millenium Park to let Sawyer play in the fountain.  I always knew it was popular, but thankfully we hit it when it wasn't terribly crowded.  Sawyer thoroughly enjoyed herself. 

She took a bit of time getting adjusted, but then jumped right into the action and sat down in the water.  She proceeded to run around for a good 30 minutes, even at one point laying down and trying to drink the water.  We had to tell her it was gross. 

Eventually, got her out and dressed in her second outfit of the day to head over to the Bean.  This wasn't a favorite, I think the multiple images freaked her out a bit so it was a short stop.

Turned out there was a Family Fun tent right around the corner that had a bunch of random kid games so we stopped off there.  Mark tried out the hula hoops, but we eventually ended up by the giant City of Chicago puzzle.  I really like the picture because it shows off some of Sawyer's curls and her big brown eyes.

Next stop was to listen to the Chicago Symphony's open rehearsal.  It was a nice little break to listen to some classics in the amphitheater, and for Sawyer to have a snack and bop her head to the tunes.

Did a little bit of twirling on the grass before a quick walk through the garden and off to catch a cab home.

That was it for pictures from the weekend, but we continued our adventures.  We hit up a Columbian Steakhouse for dinner which Sawyer loved.  She surprised Mark and I by having empanadas, salad, and about a third of Mark's steak/chicken combo platter.  She's not always a peach out at a restaurant anymore but I give her an "A" for this time out.  Sunday was equally as great - woke up and took a long walk.  Followed that up with a trip to our friend Lauren's pool and lunch out.  Sawyer was digging a pool she could actually jump into so we may be inviting ourselves over again sometime soon!
