Well it's been a busy week, not just for all the start of school activities, but for me as well with work. So I've had my computer on at night working, and as a result have been able to work more updates in...especially because we have some more pictures.
So school has continued to go well. Girls like it though we're still working out the kinks of morning drop off...more Mark than me, but I am trying to help. In addition to school, the girls started their gymnastics class this week. They were each allowed to pick one activity, and perhaps no surprise was that Isla picked what Sawyer picked. Different this time around is that instead of the park district class, which didn't have great times, the girls are going to a full-fledged gymnastics center, complete with former Olympic gymnast. As a treat, they each got a new gymnastics outfit - a leotard and some tiny shorts, which they were so excited about. They were so excited to try them on, and then get them back on for the class this week.
Seems like they loved it. Both came home with new skills and with stories of walking on the high balance beam, hanging off a bar and dropping into a foam sponge pit, tumbling, etc. Sawyer got some tips on her cartwheel, which is now really looking like a cartwheel, and learned to do a backwards somersault. Here she is getting ready for her cartwheel demonstration.
Isla on the other hand was taught to do a somersault from a standing start. Here she is preparing for her trick.
And Margot just thinks they are funny. Margot went to the doctor today and despite a cold got a good progress report. She's about 21 1/2 pounds, which is only 25th percentile, so she might be our smallest so far, but is 50th percentile for all else. She got some shots today, and Mark said the doctor brought them in and set the tray down...Margot took a look at it and started shouting "Shots"...and started crying, before she even got a shot. He said the doctor was amazed, (1) that she could say the word shots, (2) that she knew what they were, and (3) had the awareness of what was going on before it happened. Needless to say she thought our girl was a smarty which makes her mom and dad proud. It's the little things...
We ended up going out to dinner that night to celebrate a bit. No only did they do great at gymnastics, but Isla learned to ride her bike without training wheels. Apparently she asked Mark to take them off, and he figured he would, and then have to put them back on. Nope. She has been riding her balance bike for the summer and so she took to this quite quickly. She rode up and down our street and then we let her ride all the way into town. She is still working on starting herself, and usually needs help unless she's on a downhill but she goes quite fast and seems to have no fear otherwise.
Getting ready to ride along the train tracks on the way home from dinner.
